WordStream Live Recap {3 Marketing Trends You Need to Follow}

WordStream Live Recap: 3 marketing Trends You Need to Follow Blog

Last Thursday, I attended a free WordStream Live event in New York City hosted by Google. This all-day event was packed with awesome workshops and speakers who addressed various topics on digital marketing, pay per click advertising and strategies for measuring your success online. Throughout the event day, I discovered three future marketing trends I believe entrepreneurs should follow now.

1. Video Ads

When it comes to telling a story, let's face it, a photo doesn't give you the whole story, it only gives a snippet. In fact, videos deliver more powerful and memorable messages than your normal photo or text ad would. Facebook video ads receive 10 to 30 percent more views and populate up to 11 times larger in news feeds. Compared to costly traditional advertising – print ads, billboards etc, social media platforms such as Facebook and Youtube costs for video advertising are fairly low.

According to Zina Kayyali, Director of Customer Programs at Wordstream, "81% of consumers are more convinced to buy just from watching a video ad".

2. Personalized Messaging

When was the last time you did google search for just "sunglasses"? You haven't right? Instead, you probably typed in the search bar, " sunglasses for a round face". More and more today, people are ditching the old way of using one-word searches in google or bing and are searching specifically for themselves and personalizing their searches. As the entrepreneur, it is our job to make sure we get the right message, at the right time to the right person. We do this by creating keyword phrases in our Google Keyword Planner. With the Google Keyword Planner, we're able to stay on top of keyword trends to refine search campaigns and ensure content remains relevant.

3. Voice Search

Amy Swartz of Wordstream states that 20% of searches are by speech.

Although, %20 may seem like a low number, as we see more voice assistance products such as Google Home and Amazon Echo emerge, we can expect that number to increase in future as the demand for acquiring information quickly, increases . The best step we can take as entrepreneurs are to make sure our keyword phrases are relevant and reflect the consumer. We do this by tracking our Google Analytics and researching new and competitive keywords.
